As a copywriter and journalist, Jasmine has worked across a broad range of industries. Constantly learning about different topics and people is one of the main reasons she was attracted to journalism. Every client and their expertise are different. Jasmine’s expertise comes from asking the right questions in a friendly environment to uncover interesting insights. She then fashions these into brilliant content.
Where the passion began
Jasmine Hanna’s writing career began learning from the best. She began shadowing acclaimed Sydney Morning Herald Journalist Malcolm Brown, before writing for Fairfax local papers. Next she assisted at a local television station and then, working in international news at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). And this was all before graduating from university.
She graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) and then continued working at the ABC as a Newsgathering Producer. This saw her coordinating between foreign correspondents and producers at News Breakfast and News 24. She also was responsible for operating the Sydney News Exchange overnight and assisted the radio and production desks.
Jasmine Hanna’s next adventure was entering B2B journalism. She took on a role at Cirrus Media working across Hospitality Magazine and Food & Beverage Industry News. Here, she wrote for print, online and regular newsletters. She also appeared and produced weekly videos, assisted in events and managed social media – all whilst still moonlighting at the ABC, continuing to develop her intuition for a great story.
Business Publishing Group was the next stop, where Jasmine dived headfirst into the wonderful world of travel and tourism. Over the course of five years, Jasmine climbed the ranks. Initially working across titles including Travel Daily, Cruise Weekly, travelBulletin, Business Events News and Pharmacy Daily, she took to the helm of Cruise Weekly as Editor, and later, Editor of Travel Daily. Working in the world of travel, she managed a team to strict daily deadlines, explored countless destinations, saw behind-the-scenes of hotels and resorts and also interviewed some of the industry’s biggest players. The daily newsletter was her main squeeze, but her responsibilities saw her report for print, online, social media and appear both in front and behind the camera.
Good News Travels
But there was an itch Jasmine wanted to scratch. As a business-to-business writer, Jasmine has always been fascinated by the inner workings of the world of business. She had spent many nights and weekends freelancing for an assortment of industries and saw a real demand for a team of copywriters who did things differently.
Since founding Good News Travels, she has continued expanding her repertoire, both serving direct clients and consulting for PR and communications firms. She has experience working across a wide range of industries. This has seen her trusted by professionals and business owners to seamlessly capture their stories and find their next customer. Writing for big brands and small start-ups, she works across online, print, video and social media.
Outside of work, you will likely find Jasmine trying to tire out her German Shepherd, checking out the latest local café or restaurant opening or enjoying a good coffee or vino with friends.
